Chromis Fiberoptics: Proven Record as Innovation leader in Polymer Optical Fiber

Chromis Fiberoptics has a proven record as an innovation leader in polymer optical fiber. We began as a polymer optical fiber (POF) research team in Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories in 1996. We then became a part of OFS in 2001 when OFS was formed by the sale of Lucent’s optical fiber business to Furukawa Electric Co. By 2003, we had developed a unique extrusion process for low-cost, high-volume manufacturing of graded-index POF, and had obtained many key patents. In June 2004, the leadership of the POF team concluded a management buyout of the OFS POF business to form Chromis Fiberoptics.
